Last week, we had the pleasure of delivering a mini version of our The Insta Edit workshop to an amazing group of local entrepreneurs and small business owners. During our presentation, we covered 8 tips for leveraging Instagram to grow your business, brand, and following — One of them is, whenever possible, use a photograph to communicate your message. Instagram is an image-driven platform, so the algorithm favors photography over graphics and typography. At the end, one of the questions that arose was, “how do I visually communicate store hours and announcements without using a graphic-overlay?”
We loved this question because this is our favorite thing to do: brainstorm creative ways to translate your brand message visually! The business owner who happened to ask the question owns a Children’s Art Lab, so our response was, “What if you asked your students to create art communicating your store hours and took a picture of it?” Boom! This clearly communicates the logistical message, while simultaneously communicating the brand message: The Children’s Art Lab is a place for children to come make art.
Today, we thought it would be fun to serve up some other creative ideas for communicating this type of news and announcements, whether you’re a brick and mortar business, or someone who runs your business from your laptop.
So scroll on down, and be sure to let us know your thoughts and add any other creative ideas on this subject in the comments below.
Ready to announce a workshop?
The cafe at Easy Entertaining has been closed for a couple of weeks due to renovations. (Today, they're re-opening and we couldn't be more excited!) This simple photo featured above is a great example of how to communicate "we're open!" Follow our Easy Entertaining friends on IG at @eentertaining.
Need to make a weather-related announcement?
Our friends at Riffraff did a great job of communicating their hours during the "bomb cyclone" a few weeks ago. This friendly caption and inviting photo compelled us to trudge through the snow to work from their cozy spot and warm up with a hot tea. If you're local to Providence, be sure to follow them on IG @riffraffpvd and pop in for tea or a boozy beverage and peruse their book collection.
